Hi everyone ! My name is Tesni, I'm 15. My dad is the crazy guy with MS (Justin) and I'm Sioned's little sister. I won't be riding with the team, but my mum and I are following in the van. Basicaly, we'll feed them and get there tents up, so that they can concentrate on riding. But I'm also in charge of the blog. Here's a photo of me (with my camara...) :
Bonjour ! Je m'apelle Tesni, j'ai 15 ans. Mon père c'est le fou avec la SEP (Justin) et je suis la soeur de Sioned. Je ne vais pas faire de vélo, mais avec ma mère, je vais suivre dans notre fourgon. On va s'occuper de la nourriture et des tentes, ils pourront alors se concentrer sur les vélos. Aussi, c'est moi qui va faire le blog. Voici une photo de moi (avec mon appareil photo...) :

You're propabably wondering why I'm starting the blog today. Well, after months of planning, organising and training, there is now only 15 days before the start of the ride. I think it's fair to say that the excitement levels are quite high here ! Dad and I are leaving next Saturday and taking a few days to get to Wales (we live in the South of France, near Ambeyrac). Our van (who's called Daisy) is nearly fully packed, the bikes are being fixed, the dogs have their passports, and Sioned is currently doing her Baccalaureate exams.
Vous vous demandez sûrement pourquoi je commence le blog aujourd'hui. Et bien, après des mois d'organisations et de préparations, il ne reste plus que 15 jours. Mon père et moi on part pour le Pays de Galles samedi prochain et on compte y prendre quelque jours (on habite au Sud de la France, près d'Ambeyrac). Notre fourgon (nommée Daisy) est prête, les vélos sont en réparations, les chiens ont leurs passports, et Sioned passe actuellement ses examens de BAC.
I'm going to try and make the blog interresting (and if possible funny), so feedback would be very appreciated. I will try to not do the same things all the time : sometimes it will be like today, sometimes it will be a slideshow of photos, sometimes it will be a short video... I will try to vary ! But, as you might have guessed, it will always be in both English and French. Once the ride starts I will do my best to put something up everyday (even if it's just a photo), until then I'll post when something cool happens (maybe... maybe not...it might be about nothing...)

Je vais essayer de faire un blog interessant (et drôle si j'y arrive), donc vos avis seraient très appréciés. J'espère aussi varier les supports, et pas faire tout le temps les mêmes choses. C'est pour cela que vous pouvez vous attendre à des vidéos, des montages de photos, ou des choses écrites comme aujourd'hui. Aussi, comme vous l'avez peut-être deviné, tout sera en français et en anglais. Une fois que nous seront le 2 juillet, je vais poster tous les jours (même si parfois je ne posterai qu'une photo), d'ici là je mettrai peut-être d'autre choses mais qui sait...

Hi ! So after another week of preparations, dad and I are leaving tomorrow morning ! So exited !
Anyway, I decided to blog again today because it's our last night at home in five weeks, but also we would like to say thank you.

Okay so a lot has happened in the last two days...
We got to a lovely campsite in Cardiff where we are now staying, we've had rain, wind and sun, we've been shopping, laughing and getting cross.
Sioned fell off her bike yesturday so she's got a bit of a brused knee ( don't worry ! She's got back on her bike !). She also got her exam results : she got her BAC with 'Mention Très Bien' !
Sadly, we had to say bye to Charlie, Leo and Jake. Miss you already guys !
Anyway, here's a few photos :
Hey ! Alors il s'est passé pas mal de choses...
Nous sommes arrivés à Cardiff dans un jolie petit camping, nous avons eu de la pluie, du vent et du soleil, on a fait les magasins, on a rigolé et on s'est énervés.
Sioned est tombée et s'est fait mal au genou mais elle est de suite remontée à vélo ! Elle a aussi eu ses résultats du BAC :elle a eu mention Très Bien !!!
MAlheureusement nous avons du dire au revoir à Charlie, Leo et Jake. Vous nous manquez déjà !

Also we went to the University Hospital in Cardiff where we met the wonderful people working for the MS trust ! It was really nice to see them and get a bit of an understanding of the place (although the van did arrive a bit late and we missed the presentations...)
Aussi nous avons eu la chance de rencontrer ceux qui travaillent pour la MS trust ! C'était super de voir leur travail et de comprendre un peu mieux ce qu'ils font (même si le fourgon est arrivé avec un peu de retard et nous sommes arrivés après les presentations...)

We left Cardiff (and Wales actually...). One country down, two to go !! The riders got very exited about crossing the severn bridge, following a train and some other things (that, I'll be honest, I've forgotten...). The support team weren't very impressed as we'd been told to meet up at half past ten but the cyclist only got to the meeting point at half past twelve...
Luckily, the campsite was amazing and the owners were very nice ! (I do recommend it if you are ever in the area! ).
Our friend Dave come to see us (it was nice to see him again although he can be annoying...) and we got to meet Judy and John Beveridge ! They learnt about our trip on the MS trust website and Judy has MS. It was really nice to meet them !
Nous sommes partis de Cardiff et nous avons quité le Pays-de-Galles ! Les cyclists ont pu traversé le 'severn bridge' et ont suivi un train ! L'équipe de soutien ont été déçu par le fait qu'on a du attendre les cyclist pour deux heures au point de rencontre pour midi... Mais heureusement, le camping été magnifique et les propriétaires étaient vraiment très gentils ! (Si jamais vous êtes dans le coin je vous le conseil !).
Notre ami Dave est venu nous voir et nous avons pu rencontré Judy et John Beveridge ! Ils ont appris que nous faisons cette aventure grâce au site de la MS trust et Judy est aussi atteinte de la SEP. C'était vraiment très cool de les avoir rencontré !

Kelly, Dave's wife, spent most of the day with us and Dave came again for the evening. And Judy and John stayed with us again (And very kindly made dinner !!!)

Kelly, la femme à Dave, a passé la majorité de la journée avec nous et Dave est venu le soir. Judy et John sont aussi restés avec nous ( et nous ont très gentillement fait le dinner !)

Today we met the cyclists for lunch just outside of Salisbury.
After lunch, Judy and John cycled for a bit with the team ! Judy can't really balance, so she and John ride a tandom !
The support team then had to go into Salisbury to do some washing but also had to eat ice cream and look around the charity shops (it's a hard life really !)
We arrived at the campsite at about 5 o'clock. It was a nice campsite, just a field really ! (Would have been great if Jake could have still been with us...) It was also really nice to see some family there ! Mum's aunty Joyce, uncle Roy and cousin Rob were there.
Thank you very much Aunty Joyce for all the amazing food you made us !!!!
Aujourd'hui nous avons rencontré les cyclists à midi près de Salisbury. Après midi, Judy et John ont fait un peu de vélo avec l'équipe ! Judy n'a pas beaucoup d'équilibre donc elle, et John, sont sur un tandom !
L'équipe de soutien a ensuite du aller dans Salisbury pour faire un peu de linge, pour manger une glace et faire les magasins...
Nous sommes arrivés au camping vers 5 heures. C'était assez simple mais très jolie. (ça aurait été super si Jake aurait pu encore être avec nous...). C'était aussi super de voir de la famille ! La tante, l'oncle, et le cousin à ma mère y étaient.
Merci beaucoup Aunty Joyce pour toute la cuisine que tu nous a fait !!!

Riders left at 7:45. Departing early, we waited patiently at Amberly for two hours joined by Alex and Adam. Riders arrived, accompanied by Lionel, all reporting a more challenging morning than expected. Following lunch, all headed to Brighton pier. Whilst waiting the support crew collected £91.66 using boxes provided by Sophie, who joined the ride to Newhaven. We ate fish and chips (donated by Ron Lelliott) with our generous sponsor Dom. Big thanks to Dom. Also big thanks to Terry and Rita Castle for our stay in their lovely garden where the riders arrived exhausted at 8:45 !
Les cyclists sont partis a 7h45. Nous, on les a attendu pendant deux heures avec Alex et Adam. Ils sont arrivés, accompagné par Lionel, disant que leur matinée était plus dur que prévu. L'après midi, on est allé à Brighton où l'équipe de soutiens à réussi à collecter £91.66 grâce aux boites de donations donné par Sophie qui s'est ensuite joint aux cyclists jusqu'à Newhaven. On a mangé des 'fish and chips' (payé par Ron Lelliott) et on a rencontré le merveilleuw Dom, Notre sponseur. Merci à lui ! Sioned went into Paris for the first time today. She left the campsite early and got back quite late for less than 15 minutes but it was for some help funding uni !
Justin went for a bit of a bike ride (cause you know, he really doing enough at the moment...).
Martin did some weird stetches and ate at least two ice creams !
And the support team were, mostly, off duty. We only really did chilling exept mum of course who still insisted on doing every thing for everyone !
Sioned est allée à Paris pour la première fosi de sa vie aujourd'hui. Elle est partie tôt et est rentrée tard pour seulement 15 minutes d'entretient....
Justin est allé faire du vélo (comme s'il en fait pas assez en ce moment)
Martin a fait des étirements et a mangé au moins deux glaces !
Et l'équipe de soutiens a, pour la majority, rien fait. Bon après ma mère a toujours insisté a tout faire pour tout le monde...

Today, for the second time so far, the riders got wet. But they had some soup and more warm clothes and got sent on their way. The support team also had a bit of an adventure ! As we were driving along in the rain, the indicators, lights, and windscreen wipers all suddenly decided to stop in Daisy. We then had to drive, past some police, over a motorway and into a small car park without being able to see ! Luckily they then started working and we were able to carry on !
Aujourd'hui, pour la deuxième fois, les cyclist on du aller sous la pluiemais heureusement, on leur a donné de la soupe et des habits chaud et ils ont continué.
L'équipe de soutiens a aussi eu une petite aventure ! On conduisé tranquillement sous la pluie quand soudain les fares, les indicateurs et les essuie-glaces ont décidé de ne plus fonctionner. On a alors du passer devant les gendarmes, par dessus une autoroute et se garer sans pouvoirvoir la route !

The cyclists left at 9 o'clock in the rain. There was nowhere to meet up for lunch so they ate some roast chicken (thank you Mr Ollivier) while the support team had a relaxed morning waiting for the tents to dry. Once dried, we set off and headed to the outskirts of Paris. Remarkably, we got to the F1 hotel without getting lost even when our instructions said 'follow the A86' and we got to junctions with both ways signed A86... The riders got to the hotel half an hour after us and we had some pizza for dinner !!
Les cyclists sont partis a 9 heures sous la pluie. Il n'y avait nul part pour les rejoindre pour midi donc ils ont mangé du poulet rôtie (merci Mr Ollivier) pendant que l'équipe de soutiens a eu une matinée tranquille près du lac. Puis, on est partis pour les environs de Paris. D'une façon extraordinnaire, on a trouvé l'hotel F1 même quand nos directions nous disaient de suivre le A86 et qu'on arrive a un carrefour avec toutes les directions signalisés vers le A86.... Les cyclits sont arrivés une demi heures après nous et on a mangé de la pizza !!

Lovely day for the riders, terrifying day for the support team ! The cyclists got to ride through the centre of Paris past iconic sites like the Eiffel tower or the Champs Elysée and they ate a wonderful lunch by the site of the Seine river. They were very impressed by the size of the town and the details on all buildings ! While they were having a marvellous time, the support team had the stress of trying to drive around the city without getting lost (or dying) and the extra stress of almost getting pulled over by the police on the motorway !! But we got to a beautiful campsite by the Seine, where we are now stopped for 4 days !
Une journée magnifique pour les cyclits et terrifiante pour l'équipe de soutiens ! Les cyclites ont pu traversé le centre de Paris près des sites iconiques comme le Tour Eiffel ou les Champs Elysées et ont mangé au bord de la Seine. Ils ont été très impréssionné par la taille de la ville et des détails apportés à tout les bâtiments ! Pendant qu'ils passaient un temps formidable, l'équipe de soutiens a eut le stress de devoir conduire autour de la cité sans se perdre (ou mourir) en plus de presque se faire arrêter par la police sur la périphèrique !! Mais nous sommes arrivés à un jolie petit camping au bord de la Seine où nous restons pour 4 jours !

We spent most the day doing a few important (and rather boring) jobs like shopping, fixing the lights on the van and doing the washing. But we also did some chilling, reading, and walking the dogs. Jill and Lorraine even got a lift from the campsite manager into Fontainebleau (even though Lorraine did have to sit in the boot) after dejecting the taxi they called, to visit the beautiful château ! They then impressed him, and other people staying on site, by walking the 6km back.
Nous avons passé la majorité de la journée à faire des taches importantes (et plutôt ennuieuses) comme les cours, réparer les lumières du fourgon et faire le linge. Mais on a aussi lu, promené les chiens, et relaxé. Le manageur du camping a ensuite accepté d'amener Jill et Lorraine jusqu'à Fontainebleau (même si Lorraine a du s'assoir dans le coffre) pour visiter le merveilleux château, puisqu'elle ont refusé de prendre le taxi qu'elles avaient appelé. Elles ont ensuite impressioné le manageur et quelques personnes qui campent ici en marchant les 6 km pour rentrer !

Today, Mum, Sioned and I went for lovely walk along the Seine but had to come back when I had an alergic reaction to something and my hands turned into ballons... Also Martin had to leave us. His son is graduating in Bristol so he had to flight back to civilisation for a few days but he'll be with us again Tuesday. But, we are still the same number camping here tonight as my cousin Mike has flown over from Canada to join our crazy adventure !!!
Aujourd'hui, maman, Sioned et moi sommes allées promené le long de la Seine masi on a du faire demi tour quand j'ai eu une réaction allergique et mes mains se sont transformés en ballons... Aussi Martin nous a quitté. Son fils a son 'graduation' a Bristol donc il a du prendre l'avion pour retrouvé la civilisations pour quelques jours mais il nous rejoindra mardi. Par contre, nous sommes encore le même nombre à camper ici ce soir parce que mon cousin Mike est venu du Canada pour se joindre à notre aventure !!!

Papa et Mike sont allés pour plusieurs balades à vélo. Le premier s'est très passé, le deuxième était un peu plus interessant quand papa est allé tout droit à un rond point et Mike est allé à droite. Mais ne vous inquietez pas, après que Mike a fait 4km de plus et papa en a fait à peu près 10, ils se sont retrouvés et sont rentrés.
Jill et Lorraine ont laissé Ned et Ziggy avec nous pendant qu'elles sont allées dans Paris pour deux jours et ont visités plusieurs sites touristiques. Au grand bonheur des chiens, elles sont rentrées tard mardi après-midi. Elles ont passé un très moment mais étaient heureuse d'être loin des foules de personnes !
Martin est aussi rentré, mais très tard (après qu'on était tous au lit). Il est très heureux de comment s'est déroulé le 'graduation' de son fils !
Dad and Mike went for a couple of rides, the first of which went very well but the second one was more interesting when Dad went straight over a roundabout and Mike went right down a nice hill. But don't worry, after Mike had ridden 4 extra km and dad about 10, they found each other and came back to camp.
Jill and Lorraine left Ned and Ziggy and went into Paris for the two days, they stayed in the red light district and visited some of the tourist sites. To the great excitement of the dogs, they came back to camp late Tuesday afternoon. They had a lovely time but reported to be glad to be away from people !
Martin joined us late, after we'd all gone to bed, but very happy about how well his son's graduation went.

Our four days rest are over and we leave Fontainebleau. Thankfully, the heat has gone a bit and we spend the day managing to avoid surrounding storms. Mike did well riding for the morning and then pushing the trolley around the shop in the afternoon.
Nos quatre jours de repos teriminés, on quite Fontainebleau. Heureusement, la chaleur est partie et on a passé la journée avec des orages dans les environs. Mike a réussi a faire du vélo pour le matin et nous a aidé dans le magasin pour l'après-midi.

Today is the longest day for the riders ! We even had to meet them twice !! But they managed their 100 miles (162km) day !!! All went really really well for them ! The support crew weren't quite so lucky... Mike was driving Daisy so Jill was map reading in Lorraine's van, and we mist a few turns but got to the campsite ! Sadly, we'd forgotten to book and they full so we had to find another one...
Aujourd'hui est la journée la plus longue pour les cyclists ! On a même dû les rencontrer deux fois !! Mais ils ont réussi leur 162 km (100 miles) journée !!! Tout s'est passé très très bien pour eux ! L'équipe de soutiens n'a pas eu autant de chances... Mike a conduit Daisy alors Jill a lu la carte dans le fourgon de Lorraine, et on a loupé quelques tournants mais on est arrivé au camping ! Malheureusemant, on avait oublié de réserver et ils était plein alors on a dû en trouver un autre...
22-23/07
Although the riders arrived at lunch spot two hours late (partly because Mike had a bit of a fall and they had to stop in a cafe for a bit), the day was much easier. Mike managed to ride all day and the support team did a big two day shop. We then arrived at a lovely campsite at the top of a hill where we've got a day off. Martin's walked down the hill to find a pub, Jill and Lorraine have had a big sort-out and clean. Mum has found a swimming pool !!
Même si les cyclits sont arrivés au rendez vous de midi avec deux heures de retard (parce Mike est tombé et ils ont du s'arrêter dansun cafe), la journée était plsu simple. Mike a réussi a faire toute la journée à vélo et l'équipe de soutiens a réussi a trouvé un grand magasin. On est ensuite arrivé a un super camping en haut d'une colline où nous avons un jour de repos. Martin a marché jusqu'au village en bas de la colline avec l'espoir de trouver un bar, Jill et Lorraine ont rangé et lavé leur fourgon, et maman a trouvé une piscine !!!
24-25/07
On Sunday, Mike managed to ride over 100km with the team ! And they reported to be officialy out of the flat land !! Well done Mike !
Being in the Loire valley, we came across a fairytale like castle ! It was really cute !
On Monday, the support team met the cyclits for the first time after their 700m climb and gave them some ice cream. They were lucky we got there as Lorraine had lost her keys and then we couldn't find the entrance to the shop !
After almost being killed a big yellow truck that was on the wrong side of the road and mum nearly being sick while Mike was having fun driving down the hill, we met the cyclists for lunch.
Dimanche, Mike a réussi plus de 100 km avec l'équipe ! En plus, ils sont officiellement sorti du pays plat et ont rencontrés des colines !
Etant dans la valley du Loire, on a trouvé un magnifique chateau comme ceux de Disney ! C'était trop mignon !
Lundi, l'équipe de soutiens a rencontré les cyclists pour des glaces après leur montée de 700m. Ils ont eut de la chance que nous y sommes arrivés parce Lorraine vait perdu ses clés et on a eut beaucoup de mal a trouver l'entrée du magasin !
Après avoir frollé la mort lorsqu'un camion était sur le mauvais côté de la route et que mamana presque vomie alors que Mike s'amusé en descendant la colline, on a rencontré les cyclists pour midi.
